Children Of Light Ministries is dedicated to the positive advancement of todays inner-city youth and their families by providing, cultivating and networking the necessary resources, facilitating relevant community based programs and delivering messages of hope, healing and prosperity that will help guide them to becoming guardians of their communities and lights to the world.

The Children Of Light/Real Deal Life Skills Program was created by our founder Garry M. Callis, Sr. in 1998 at the Fairfield Boy's & Girl's Club in Richmond, Virginia. While working as a Program Director at the "Club", he started a cooking class. Each day the kids were excited to prepare different meals, but were just as excited to serve their creations to their peers. Most had no idea of how to prepare a balanced meal or provide "customer good service". When participants of the cooking class were taken to the grocery store, some did not understand budgeting or the value of money. Callis decided to create an independent program that taught children manners, respect and responsible decision-making, as well as, provide other essential life skills, such as cooking, money management and customer service training. Within 30 days, over 25 members of the "Club" wanted to join the group.
